I didn’t tested it in latest versions. Fingerprint Gui had a nice interface, but was pretty unstable on the login page and sudo and constantly crashed. I can now login and validate my sudo access with a finger swipe!! Nothing really has been changed!!! If true, it’s disappointing that the company has yet to share that knowledge with the millions of people who likely have the software installed on their computers. UPEK Protector Suite simply stores the original password to Windows account, making it possible for an intruder to obtain one. We notified former UPEK about the issue but sure enough they know about it.

As I recall, using the fingerprint reader under Lenpvo 7 required extra add-ons, since Windows itself didn’t directly support that sort of log-in, so Lebovo used a “kind of” secondary account. Now that a weakness has come to light that seriously undermines those assurances, Authentec should recall the software, or at the very least warn users that it is susceptible to serious attack.
